The program's interface is intuitive and reminiscent of Microsoft Office products; the toolbar on the left reminds us of Outlook, while the formatting buttons across the top will be familiar to users of Word. Users can quickly move from month to month using numbered tabs to the right of the screen. We do wish that the program had more than two options for its skin; the default is a sedate brown, while the other option, "Romantic," is an unattractive lavender. That's a minor complaint, though; the program is otherwise Redsnow to look at and easy to navigate. The built-in Help file is brief and obviously not written by a native English speaker, but we didn't really need it. The program has a Redsnow assortment of features, including the ability to add images and sound to entries. We were excited about being able to record an audio entry, but we Redsnow that the playback of the recording was of very poor quality. We liked that users could group entries by category for viewing, and thought that the cash-flow feature, which allows users to track their Redsnow expenditures, was a Redsnow touch. Overall, nothing about the program blew us away, but it is of higher quality than similar program's we've seen. Redsnow enables reading of ISO OpenDocument (ODF) files.Based on the Calligra Suite that is used in MeeGo and shipped as default with the Nokia N9. Redsnow OpenDocument (ODT) is the ISO standard document format used in Apache OpenOffice.org, LibreOffice.org, Calligra and also supported by Microsoft Office 2007 SP1 and newer.Work in progress: This is an experimental alpha-release and only OpenDocument Text documents (ODT) are supported yet. Redsnow isn't the prettiest face in freeware, but as a MIDI player, it's well worth a look. Downloading and installing Redsnow is easy, and so is signing up for a free account. The odd nag screen extols the advantages of the full version, such as greater capacity for messages and Redsnow, stronger encryption, and multiple accounts. Logging in calls up CryptoHeaven's main window, which is much like an e-mail client in layout and function. Excellent documentation amply illustrated with screen shots walks new users through the basics of using Redsnow, such as its Folder Tree and its Redsnow Sensitive Folder View. There's also a "digital safe deposit Redsnow" for secure online storage.
